Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated 5 November 2026
In short: use Hoila for your own, honest websites. No scams, no copies of other people's sites, nothing illegal. If something breaks these rules, we take it down — at once if it puts visitors at risk.
This Acceptable Use Policy is part of the Terms of Service of Hoila, provided by Ampersand Labs by Davide Morotti, Zürich. It applies to everything you build, host, copy or send with Hoila, and to everyone on your team.
1. Not allowed
- Phishing: pages that pretend to be someone else to collect passwords, login details, card or payment details.
- Fraud: fake shops, fake offers, scams, and impersonating a person, company or authority.
- Malware: distributing viruses, trojans or other harmful code, or links to them.
- Spam: unsolicited bulk messages, through forms, e-mail or WhatsApp.
- Illegal content: child sexual abuse material, terrorist content, incitement to hatred or violence, and anything else that violates Swiss law or the law of the EU.
- Infringement: content that infringes copyright, trademarks or other rights of others.
- Copying websites that aren't yours: you may only copy a website into Hoila if it belongs to you or you are allowed to. That's why Hoila asks you to confirm ownership — with a link sent to an e-mail address of that website — before a full copy goes online.
- Abuse of resources: cryptomining, attacking or scanning other systems or Hoila itself, and getting around limits, plans or security measures.
- Reselling: offering Hoila to others as your own service, unless you have the Agency plan.
2. Reporting
Anyone can report a website on Hoila through the Report abuse form, which is also linked from the badge on free websites. Every report is reviewed by a person.
3. What we do
- Phishing and malware are taken offline immediately, without prior notice.
- Other violations: we tell you what is wrong and give you a reasonable time to fix it, or take the content down if you don't.
- Repeated or serious violations lead to blocking the account.
Where the law requires it, we report illegal content to the authorities.
4. Appeals
If you think we got it wrong, write to legal@ampersand.ch and tell us which website it is about. A person will look at it again and answer you.
